Why we verify your ID — and what to send

2 min read · 2 min

Why we ask

Every host in Poland is legally required to keep an accommodation register (the meldunek) recording every guest who stays at the property. To register you, we need a valid photo ID — there is no workaround. On top of that, ID verification protects against fraud and lets us safely authorise the security deposit on your card. Combined, this keeps the property, the neighbourhood, and other guests safe.

When the request happens

The request usually goes out 24-72 hours before check-in, through the messaging channel of whichever platform you booked on (Airbnb, Booking.com, RENTUJEMY.COM, etc.). The message contains a secure upload link — that is the only place to send your ID.

⚠️Never send your ID via plain WhatsApp or email — use the upload link we send. If you're unsure whether a request is genuine, ask the host.

What to send

A clear photo of a government-issued ID: Passport, national ID card, residence card, or driving licence. If it is a card with information on both sides, send a photo of both sides. Make sure all corners are visible, the photo is in focus, and there is no glare on the document.

One ID per adult guest: Every guest aged 16 or over needs to submit their own ID. Children under 16 do not need to send anything.

Use the secure upload link: Open the link from our message and upload directly. The link is single-use and tied to your reservation.

What we do with your ID

Your photo is stored encrypted on our systems. It is used only for the meldunek accommodation register, for Stripe identity verification when authorising the deposit, and for our own fraud checks. We do not share it with marketers, advertisers, or any third party outside what the law requires. The photo is deleted automatically after your stay completes, in line with GDPR retention rules.

ℹ️We store ID photos encrypted and delete them after your stay. You can request immediate deletion at any time.

What we don't do

We do not store your payment-card details through the ID upload channel. We do not use your ID for marketing. We do not share your document with the platform you booked on or with any other guest. Anyone asking you to send card numbers, PINs, or banking passwords through the ID flow is not us — stop and contact the host.

If you would rather not send it

ID verification is not optional for stays in Poland — it is a legal requirement on the host side. If you refuse to send a valid document, the host can cancel the booking. If you are uncomfortable with the standard process for any reason, message the host before arrival and we will explain what is possible.
