Security deposit explained
3 min read · 3 min
How the deposit works
A security deposit is pre-authorised on your payment card at or shortly before check-in. The amount is shown in the property listing before you book. The funds are not actually charged — they are held as a temporary authorisation that reduces your available card balance.
ℹ️A pre-authorisation is not a charge. It temporarily reduces your available balance but does not appear as a debit on your statement.
When the deposit is released
After checkout, the property is inspected. If no damage or policy violations are found, the authorisation is released within 5–7 business days. Your bank then makes the funds available again.
If damage occurs
If damage is found, Rentujemy will contact you with a description and photos before charging the deposit. Any charge reflects the actual cost of repair or replacement.
⚠️Disputes about damage charges must be raised within 24 hours of the checkout notification. Contact support with your evidence (photos, timestamps).
